Doodle the measle-laden toddler is doing well. In fact, she's in a good mood and not very spotty at all. However she has been in a very movie-watching mood. Specifically Mary Poppins. Not the whole film. Not even most of the film. She just wants to watch the penguin waiters dancing. As soon as that scene is done she wants "penguin dance" again. Penguin dance it is...

I meant to ask. Don't they have vaccinations for measles? I remember having one when I entered college.
So, any idea where she caught it? I've got 3 unvaxed kids! ;) sally
We don't know where she caught it. We don't know anyone who has said they've had measles recently...but it's very contagious and the virus can still be airborne up to two hours after an infected person has been there. So... no idea. On the bus, at the grocery store... she could have caught it anywhere. That's why we're not taking her out of the house until she's spot-free. We don't want to pass it on.
@Daktari: Yes, they do. We've decided to do our research on the vaccines and wait until Doodle got bigger before considering vaccinating her. The MMR (measles, mumps & rubella) vaccine is one of the more controversial ones, primarily due to the thimerosal (mercury) used in the vaccine.
P.S. if you had measles in junior high, why did you get vaccinated for it in college? Easier than getting a blood titer to show you already had immunity? Just curious.
I refuse to do the MMR. I only want the Rubella part and I have yet to find a doctor who will order it separated for me.
Poor little girl! I hope she gets well soon!
I got a MMR in college because they wouldn't let me register without it. End of discussion. They would pay for the shot, but not for a titer.
And looks like it's a little too late for a vaccine for Doodle anyway. Hope she feels better soon.
